Solar Taxi Goes Round the World

Tagged:

Hi, pupils.

You have seen how solar panels can power a robot and even light up a LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulb in school this year. Solar panels are useful as they can generate electricity from the sunlight and it causes less pollution.

Alternative Sources of Energy

Tagged:

We usually burn fossil fuels to generate electricity and power up a car. Such burning of fossil fuels will lead to air pollution and hence may cause global warming.

Hence, we need to look at alternative sources of energy such as hydrogen and solar energy. Such alternative sources are more environmentally friendly and will not cause much air pollution.

Here are some videos on the use of solar energy. The black solar cells (photovolatic cells) convert solar energy to electricity. Enjoy the videos.

Hi, pupils.

The UK-built solar plane, known as The Zephyr-6, as it is known, stayed in the air for more than three days, running through the night on batteries it had recharged in sunlight. Zephyr-6 is unmanned (meaning there is no pilot to "drive" the aeroplane").

For more information and video on Zephyr-6 , please visit the BBC News Science Website.
